Â鶹¹ÙÍø/NAACP partner for Youth Helping Youth Conference

Â鶹¹ÙÍø hosts the 10thannual Youth Helping Youth Conference in partnership with the NAACP at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's Northeast Campus. The one-day event combines a celebration of African-American history and education to help prepare students for college. The conference includes workshops aimed at a college prep curriculum and walks parents through the financial aid resources available and college funding opportunities.
Students from grades 6-12 are invited to attend, along with their parents or other adult family members. The event is free to participants and provides a morning of breakout sessions designed to help parents and students plan for college and develop skills necessary to be successful.
Break-out sessions are titled: Preparing for ACT; Black History: Past and Present; Black Student Experience: the Remix; Everything you wanted to know about college but were afraid to ask; Why Â鶹¹ÙÍø is for me.
Â鶹¹ÙÍø is proud of its commitment to diversity which is one of the college’s five core values. The annual event has served to diversify Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s student body by increasing our minority student population and reaching out to historically underserved and underrepresented communities through outreach. Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s minority enrollment has climbed significantly in the past 20 years.

The 10th annual Youth Helping Youth Conference is 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Northeast Campus at 3727 East Apache (on the corner of Apache and Harvard).
